Watch the demo in class (or tutorial)
Create a new page on your website called: mini-me
Create an inspiration section
find at least 3 photos of ideas you could use online, and add them to your inspiration section
create a text box - add at least 5 ideas you could do for your mini me photo
do a practice shot to see how it works before you come up with your final idea
The background photo (above: feet / below: camera) show the scale and difference in size between the subject and the background
Background photo - make sure it is a good quality photo - close up, detail shots with low F-stop number work best!
Shoot multiple versions! If you have a subject, think about aligning it with the miniature version of yourself
Mini me photo
find a blank wall to shoot against
make sure your posing is what you want it to be once placed in the background (ex: if you will be sitting on your own hand, then you should be sitting in the mini-me photo)
YOU MUST BE THE PHOTOGRAPHER
GET THE SCENE AND CAMERA SETTINGS TOTALLY SET UP AND THEN HAVE YOUR FRIEND TAKE THE PHOTO FOR YOU
OR, YOU CAN USE A TRIPOD AND THE TIMER TO SHOOT A PHOTO OF YOURSELF
OR, DO A MINI-ME PHOTO OF A FRIEND
Try to match the type of lighting and direction of sun/shadows in both images
the background shot should be a close up shot, otherwise your mini-me subject will be way too small
you need something in your background shot for scale - it should be an object or scene that clearly shows the difference in size between the background and the "mini-me" subject
Make sure your mini-me subject is in the exact position you want for them to fit into the background scene. If they are going to be hanging off something or sitting on something, then you need to shoot them that way.
First sort your photos in Bridge and select the best options
Open up the background image and the "mini me" image in photoshop
First, use a selection tool to select yourself from the mini me image
You might also want to try "select > subject"
Then switch to the move tool, and drag and drop yourself into the background image
Now on the background image, Use "Ctrl + T" to resize and rotate the mini-me photo so that it fits in the background
Use adjustment layers (levels or brightness/contrast) to make sure the background and mini-me match
ALWAYS save a PSD as you go
When done, flatten and save a jpg
use levels adjustment/clipping mask to brighten or darken specific layers
use burn tool to draw in a shadow OR use layer FX to create a drop shadow
use masking to make your "mini-me" appear in front or behind the background image
