Q: What should I expect if attend a competition, how long on average should I expect to be there?
A: You can really decide if you are coming as a spectator how long you will be there. Our performance time is known ahead of time and updated in the Weekend Update tab. Our performance is about an 8 minute show. You can also stay and hang around for the award ceremony. If you do this makes the day quite a bit longer since we typically perform early in shows because of our size and all the other bands have to perform. Full competitions are around 3 and a half hours long.
Q: How do I get involved as a parent?
A: Contact the DPMA and they can help you get involved. (email delran.music.forever@gmail.com )
Q: What are the responsibilities of the chaperones? Do they have to ride the bus with the band or can they drive themselves to the competitions/games?
A: Chaperones report with the students and ride the bus to and from the competition or games. Chaperones are in charge of carrying the medical bag and also keeping an eye on the GR after the performance. After performances the GR staff listens to judges tapes in the school and prepares to have a meeting with the judges following the competition.
Q: If I volunteer for the home games/show and/or competitions, will I be able to see my child perform?
A: Typically if you volunteer for home games you will not be able to see the band perform but during competitions you will. Volunteering to help the DPMA or Golden Regiment is so much appreciated and we really can't perform at our peak without your help!
Q: What is the Homecoming Parade? How long does it last? How are parent volunteers utilized for this event?
A: The Homecoming Parade is a parade on the Saturday of Homecoming weekend that parades down Conrow Rd. to the high school where the students bring their class floats and ultimately perform with their class. The parade itself is about a 45 minute event. Parent volunteers typically follow with the band carrying a cooler of water to keep the GR hydrated.
Q: How late does the marching band usually come back from an away game/competition?
A: The GR typically gets back from away games around 10:30pm. On competition days it depends on the venue, how many bands are competing, and what time awards are. If you check the Weekend Update there is a bullet point stating an approximation of when we think we will return back to Delran HS.

A: Absolutely! We encourage siblings to get involved and help the GR.
