So if you are looking for ways to give back to the community, there are plenty of opportunities, not only for donations but for volunteering to help out.
Please shoot us an email and let us know what you can help out with or just to let us know that you are willing to lend a hand if needed. info@delphoskofc.org. Or call the hall at 419-692-7731 and leave us a message with your contact information.
We encourage everyone to check our website www.delphoskofc.org on a regular basis to stay up-to-date on what is going on in your KofC Council. And just added, you can also make sure you are alerted to "special time sensitive announcements" by signing up for our new texting service. Text your name to 419-405-1179 and we will include you when we have important messages that need to get out quickly, such as joining us in the saying of the rosary for member's funerals and their family's that request it.
A thank you was received from Brother Knight Lou Hohman on behalf of his entire family for the visitation and Rosary said for his wife Carol's funeral. The many Knights in attendance was very impressive and appreciated by the entire Hohman family.
Also, he made a special thank you for the hospitality at the hall for the meal, and to Don Kaverman, Mike Grubenhoff and Mel Holder
Dave Hastings awarded the Delphos Knights of Columbus the Ohio State administrative award. The award was presented to Josh Gillespie because he is instrumental in all our reporting.
Josh thanked all the many members who volunteer and are instrumental in the smooth flowing of events and processes within the 1362 council.
The special summer fish fry held Thursday, August 11, 2022 was a huge success. The fish was incredible and a big thank you goes out to Jim Fortner and his wife as well as all the volunteers who prepared and cooked the fish that was donated by the Delphos Sportsman Club. Also thank you to the members who came out to support this very nice member's event.
This is a fun way to add excitement while watching NFL games but it is also a great fundraiser for the KofC. The Junior class of Delphos St. Johns will be helping sell tickets, but you can also purchase tickets at the KofC Hall. Final turn in will be on November 3, 2022. There are MANY opportunities to win, so once you buy a ticket you can just sit back and watch TV and relax in your favorite recliner. This fundraiser adds another element of excitement to the pro football season.
You can check to see if you are a winner anytime during the season by visiting www.fundcrazr.com and enter your ticket number.

In order to get the most from your Knights of Columbus membership, we encourage you to consider advancing and becoming a fourth degree. The first degree teaches us the importance of charity. The Second and Third Degrees expand on this with lessons of unity and fraternity. Once you reach Third Degree you are given full honors of Knighthood and are officially "Knighted". And finally, the Fourth Degree imparts upon us a lesson on the virtues of patriotism. Now, more than ever, we need patriots like you in our community.
Sign up a new member and Nate Ankerman will see that they gets info on becoming a 1st degree. There will be a 2nd and 3rd degree exemplification (or degree ceremony). More information on this is coming soon. Please consider this your chance to take the next step in this great organization. Also we ask that you ask your Catholic friends, family and neighbors to consider membership. Contact us at info@DelphosKofC.org or Lou Hohman at 419-203-0878 or Nate Ankerman at 419-234-6566.
The regular monthly meetings of the Delphos K of C are held on the 2nd Monday of each month. The business meeting begins at 8:00 PM, and usually concludes around 9:00pm.
Refreshments are provided to those in attendance. When was the last time that you attended a K of C meeting? We need to hear what changes members would like to see happen.
Why not come to a meeting and let others know how you feel we could improve what we do or how we do it. Will you get “roped” into working? Nobody will twist your arm.
In order for your K of C Council to continue to do the good things we do, volunteers are needed. We need more members to step up and help out. Everyone is busy but we all find time to do the things that are important to us. Hopefully the Delphos K of C is important to you too.
Help is needed at the Delphos K of C. We have several Officer positions that need filled and need help running projects. It doesn’t have to be year around or time consuming. Possibly one evening a month or less. For more information, contact me, Terry Van Grootheest at grandknight@delphoskofc.org, come to the hall any Thursday evening, or better yet, come to a regular monthly meeting that usually lasts about an hour. Your help will make a difference.
The businesses that advertise in this newsletter, help pay the cost of our website, newsletters and the other online expenses that our organization has. In addition, they are asked to donate to all sorts of fund raising projects. Please do as much business as you can locally. We all benefit.
If you would like to be added to our Delphos Knights of Columbus group texting, please send a text with your name and a request to be added to the group to: 419-405-1179.

The electronic digital sign reality is getting closer. I just met with the installers and the sign could be up by the end of September. The footer is poured, masonry work is planned, and the old sign will be coming down at the end of August. What an exciting change as well as a new update for distributing information. Information and advertising space is affordable and available for various events, businesses, and organizations. Call me (Nathan) if you have any questions at 419.234.6566

My Brother Knights:
After nearly 50 years, the wrong decision that was made in Roe v. Wade has been set right. The Supreme Court’s historic decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’ Health Organization overturning both Roe and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, is a watershed moment in the movement that generations of Knights of Columbus have worked and prayed for. Indeed, it is one of the most significant advancements in human rights in our nation’s history.
We are grateful and encouraged by the Court’s finding that abortion is not a “constitutional right.” But we must not think that today is a day to declare victory. Instead, I call upon every member of the Knights of Columbus to redouble their personal efforts to build up the Culture of Life that St. John Paul II described in his prophetic encyclical letter Evangelium Vitae.
With Roe reversed, federal advocacy to protect unborn life is still necessary, but the decision opens wide the doors for states to consider their own abortion laws as well. Many states have laws that immediately protect unborn human life. Others have taken regrettable steps to make themselves “sanctuaries” for abortion-on-demand. Pregnancy resources centers will become even more vital as they reach out to serve pregnant women, new mothers and their children.
In the months and years ahead, Knights should work to support — or start — marches for life in every state. Another critical action we can all take is to increase our support for pregnancy resource centers in our communities. To that end, the Supreme Council has announced a $5 million campaign to support new mothers and their children through a new program: ASAP (Aid and Support After Pregnancy). These pregnancy centers and maternity homes are now the front lines of the pro-life movement, and Knights should continue to stand and serve with them. You can support this effort by making a donation today.
Even before the Dobbs decision was officially released, we saw numerous instances of violence and vandalism targeted at pregnancy resource centers and Catholic churches across the country. Let us find our response in the words Pope Francis addressed to the 2021 Supreme Convention, which called on us to be men “committed to building up rather than tearing down, promoting healing and reconciliation in place of hatred and recrimination, and inviting all to undertake the ‘journey of fraternity’ that can lead to a world ever more in accord with God’s saving plan for our human family.”
Finally, we must continue to pray and fast for the end of abortion. How fitting it is that the Dobbs decision arrived on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Let us pray in thanksgiving for this decision, and continue to implore the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe as we work to build a Culture of Life in which every human life, made in the image and likeness of God, is welcomed in life and protected in law.
Fraternally,
Patrick E. Kelly
Supreme Knight

Do you have a wedding to plan, or a graduation party, Christmas party, rehearsal dinner, or an event of any kind? Why not consider the K of C Hall for your special event? Our hall can accommodate small, medium, or large groups of people. You can rent the front part of the hall for gatherings of up to 100 people, or the entire hall for large groups. If you rent the front part for smaller gatherings, you can get the food from us, carry it in, or get your own caterer. Because of our liquor license, it is illegal for anyone to carry alcoholic beverages of any kind into the hall, so we cannot allow that to happen. However, we have custom catering, full bar services, a bright, clean, user friendly, handicap accessible facility. It can be decorated to satisfy the most exquisite tastes, or used “as is’ for a worry free event. If you have questions, please contact Mike Grubenhoff at 419-615-2445 or Nate Ankerman 419-234-6566. They will be glad to answer any questions or set up an appointment to talk about your plans.
