Welcome to Pacific Sky
My name is Veronica Brand, or to students Coach Brand. I am the STEAM+ Physical Education Specialist at Pacific Sky School. This will be my 17th year of teaching, 10th year in Del Mar Union School District. Prior to joining Pacific Sky, I was the physical education specialist at Carmel Del Mar (CDM) for 8 years. I began my teaching career in the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District. There I taught middle school physical education for 7 years. I am a former division 1 collegiate athlete. I attended the University of Minnesota (Go Gophers!!) on a softball scholarship and graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology. After graduating, I returned to beautiful San Diego and obtained my teaching credential and master's degree from National University. I am so thankful to be a part of the Del Mar Union School District and Pacific Sky family. Sky is NOT the limit! Dream BIG Pilots!

My goal for PE at Pacific Sky School is to provide every child with a positive PE experience, build their confidence, and provide many opportunities for them to work in pairs, teams and individually on physical and social emotional skills (that are connected with sports, games & activities). Students will be exposed to a wide variety of games and sports traditional and non-traditional. I strive to help students find their JOYful movement, so they can be physically active for life (Physical Literacy).

What is Physical Literacy?
The ability to move with competence and confidence in a wide variety of physical activities in multiple environments (on land, in water, on ice, in snow) that benefit the development of the whole person.

Life Outside the Hangar
Outside of school, I spend a lot of time with my family, my husband and two kids. We live a very active lifestyle. Both my children are very active in sports. We also love Disneyland & the outdoors! Some of my personal favorite outdoor activities include: hiking, riding my beach cruiser, paddleboarding, and running.
Fun Fact: This summer I visited my 44th state in the U.S. The State of Washington. My goal is to visit all 50 states!
