Samantha Stein

Hello, my name is Samantha Stein and I am so excited to work with your children this year. I graduated from SDSU with my Bachelor's in liberal studies with a focus on elementary school education. After SDSU I attended USD where I received my multiple subject teaching credential and Masters in curriculum and instruction. I completed my student teaching at Del Mar Heights and was the site substitute at Sycamore Ridge. I could not be happier to be continuing in the Del Mar Union School District.

Educational Philosophy
&
What to Expect in the 4th Grade?

We have fun while we learn. So, we've got that going for us, which is nice.

I am thrilled to guide students in interactive and experiential thinking so they can create connections, generate conclusions, and make sense of any situation. I hope to instill in them a wonder about the world around them, the confidence to tackle any situation, and a zealous commitment to continued learning. The natural curiosity of students is at the heart of my approach to teaching. Children crave opportunities for exploration and discovery, which is vital to their retention of knowledge. Our classroom is a place where students experience engaging learning opportunities, master skills, and learn the social emotional skills that foster healthy relationships in life.

Expect to:

*Listen! With active listening, we can build upon the ideas of others. We are a team.

*Think about how our learning connects to what you already know, and how you are going to show you understand.

*Try your best. Teachers love when students are eager to learn and work through challenges. You are safe to fail in our classroom. Failures and challenges are opportunities to learn. We've got this!

*Ask questions when you aren't sure about something. I am here for you. Always.

*Monitor yourself. Are you being effective with your strategies? You will choose your level of support?  We are a community of learners and help each other, yet it starts with you.

Expect to grow and grow and grow and grow some more!

Life Outside of the Ocean

Outside of school I love to spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy cooking, concerts, crafting and fly fishing. I have recently started golfing and pilates.
