My name is Alia Thorsen and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher. I began my teaching career after graduating from San Diego State University, with a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies and a teaching credential. Over the past 16 years, I have had the privilege of teaching kindergarten, 2nd, and 5th grade. This is my seventh year teaching in the Del Mar Union School District. I love teaching kindergarten and am excited to be one of your child's first teachers on their educational journey. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your family as we work together to make this an amazing year of learning and growing.

Educational Philosophy
I believe that each student has unique abilities, talents, and strengths. I value each child's individuality and cherish the opportunity to nurture the skills each of my students need to be successful. My goal is to instill a love for learning while challenging my students to be independent thinkers, global citizens, and empathetic problem solvers.
