Hello!
My name is Bianca Garoutte (Guh-root). I am thrilled to be teaching 5th grade at CDM with such an amazing team!
To share a bit about myself, I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of La Verne in 2019 where I earned a B.A. in Education. After that, I had the joy of joining the DMUSD family as an instructional aide which inspired me to go back to school to become a full-time teacher.
In 2021, I attended the University of San Diego for graduate school where I received a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a dual credential to teach multiple subjects and to become an education specialist.
I am incredibly excited to continue my teaching journey with my Room 204 family!

Educational Philosophy:
I believe in establishing meaningful, personal connections with my students and tailoring my teaching approach to meet their individual needs. My goal is to provide a well-rounded, rich, and engaging learning environment that challenges and holistically supports all of my students. I aim to nurture the growth of empathetic problem-solvers, change-makers, and critical thinkers.
What to expect in 5th Grade:
As a teacher, I like to create an environment where my students feel safe, empowered, important, supported, appropriately challenged, and nurtured. I do this by creating a strong class community where students have agency and are able to have fun while collaborating. In my classroom, students are encouraged to be curious, make connections, take risks, try new things, be a part of a team, and find joy in learning. I will be working closely with the wonderful 5th grade CDM team this year to create engaging learning opportunities!
I look forward to meeting all of my students and families as we kick off the 2023-2024 school year!
Life Outside of the Dragon's Lair
As a San Diego native I greatly enjoy being outdoors which often includes hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, or playing Pickleball! When I am not enjoying the beautiful sunshine, I like to spend time with my family/friends, walk my dog Millie, travel to new places, and try out new recipes.
