Mrs. McCarty's Smarties
Fourth Grade School Family
Our family loves to ski. This is Mr. McCarty, AJ, and me in Colorado.
Welcome Smarties! I am excited to be your teacher this year. It is going to be a year filled with lots of new learning adventures. I can't wait to get to know all about you, but first, here is a bit about me...
When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my family. They are my favorite people to be with (other than YOU!) Mr. McCarty, AJ, and I enjoy the outdoors. We like to hike, ski, camp, and spend time at the beach. AJ loves sports, so we are usually watching him play soccer or surf or golf, or, or, or! He likes to keep us busy!
I have been a teacher since 1998, but I came to Del Mar in 2004 and made Torrey Hills my home school ever since. Although most of my years at Torrey Hills have been in primary grades, I am thrilled to now be part of the wonderful team of teachers in 4th grade. I love our school and our school district because we are like a family. Staff members are helpful and supportive and truly care about doing their absolute best to help kids learn. I feel a huge sense of pride to be included in such a wonderful educational community that provides so many amazing educational opportunities for students.

Get ready fourth graders! This year in math, we will study division, multiplication, fractions, decimals, geometry, area, and perimeter. We will also study California history and explore science topics like Earth's features and vision! In language arts, we will read novels and do close reading of text. Fourth graders are STRONG writers. We write narratives, opinion pieces, and informational essays. We have a lot to learn, and I cannot wait to get started!
