This year will be my 15th year as a classroom teacher and I've taught in the Del Mar Union School District since 2008. I was a 6th grade teacher in Del Mar from 2013-2019, with my last three years of sixth grade being at Ocean Air School.

I received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master of Arts in Education from Point Loma Nazarene University. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and an added credential authorization to teach Drama for grades K-12.

I am originally from the Philadelphia area, and enjoy traveling there often to visit family and friends. I also enjoy singing, musicals, tennis, traveling, and spending time at the beach.

What to Expect in 6th Grade
Sixth grade is an incredible year where students grow more independent and confident, and become ready for the next phase of their school journey, middle school. Students in 6th grade deepen their understanding of literature by making connections with complex ideas, they sharpen their academic and creative writing skills, and learn strategies to read and research critically. Students engage in new mathematical concepts including ratios and algebra, and deepen their understanding of fractions. Sixth graders explore Ancient Civilizations, noticing commonalities among civilizations that thrived, and they engage in discoveries in Science with topics including genetics, body systems, and the human impact on Earth's climate and weather. Sixth grade is truly an exciting year!

You can help support and empower your child by giving them the freedom to 'take charge' of their learning.
