- Meet Mrs. Polchin
This is my 16th year teaching and I feel so blessed to be able to do what I love everyday! I began my teaching career in Northeast Pennsylvania after graduating from Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I continued my education earning a Master's in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Scranton as well as a English as a Second Language credential from King's College. I spent the first 6 years of my career teaching kindergarten and first grade before relocating to San Diego. Since joining DMUSD in 2015, I have had the honor of teaching kindergarten through third grade in the Sycamore Ridge community. I look forward to sharing my passion for learning as we embark on our educational journey together!

I believe that every child is born with endless potential and the ability to succeed in their own way. I believe in the power of individuality fostered within a nurturing and challenging environment where each child feels loved and important. It is my priority to instill confidence, wonder, and compassion while focusing on the whole-child. I value the connection I hold with every child and family as we begin our journey of lifelong learning together.

My husband Joe and I are originally from Northeast Pennsylvania and currently reside in Carlsbad with our 20 month old daughter, Manna, who is the light of our lives! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, doing outdoor activities, yoga/pilates, creative projects, and writing. You will find me trying new restaurants, walking the beaches, and enjoying all that San Diego has to offer.
