Students will deepen their critical thinking skills through in-depth analysis of literature and various text formats, spanning diverse cultures and time periods. Writing instruction will focus on developing persuasive arguments, conducting and presenting research, and crafting compelling narratives. Mathematics will develop problem-solving skills, such as reasoning abstractly, justifying methods, modeling situations, and precision in the key domains of ratios, algebraic expressions and equations, geometry, and statistics.
Students will embark on a journey through history, examining ancient civilizations and identifying patterns of development and shared characteristics. The science curriculum will delve into the intricacies of genetics, the human body, and the impact of human activities on the environment.
Beyond academics, sixth graders will develop essential life skills including time management, organization, and self-advocacy. A strong emphasis will be placed on emotional well-being and building positive relationships with peers.
