Hello 5th Grade Families,
I am so excited to be your child's teacher and look forward to a wonderful year of learning, growth and meaningful connections!
I began teaching in 2003 and have been at Sage Canyon since 2007. I have a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, MA in Reading and Language Arts, as well as a Reading Specialist Credential. I have been trained in CGI Common Core math instruction. Additionally, I participated in the Harvard Project Zero: Fellows program focusing on improving learning and collaboration by honing group and individual thinking processes in the classroom and beyond!
It's going to be a fantastic year as we get set for an enriching, memorable and fun year in 5th grade.
Warmly,
Julie Cheng

When I'm not in the classroom, I love spending time with my family and friends, traveling, trying new restaurants, gardening, cooking, and playing board games with my family!
Fifth grade is an exciting year where students learn to become independent and take responsibility for their own educational journey! We will begin to prepare students for the rigorous expectations that will be required in middle school and beyond. There are so many things to learn, including fractional understanding and operations in math, citing evidence to support response to literature and nonfiction, multi-paragraph writing in all 3 genres, US History, and Science!
