About My Background

I am a product of the Del Mar Union School District and attended Del Mar Heights as a student.
I have a BA in Diversified Liberal Arts and a MA in Education
I hold a multiple subject credential and an art supplemental credential
Experience: I have taught in the classroom for 11 years prior to becoming an art specialist. I have been teaching art 18 years.
I most likely have glitter or paint stuck to me somewhere...

What to expect in STEAM+ Art

Educational Philosophy

The Eagle art studio is supported by the 8 Habits of Mind from Harvard's Project Zero. This means students are taught how to think like an artist. The art room has multiple studios where students access different materials and make personal choices in their art making. TAB (Teaching For Artistic Behavior) is a philosophy meant to develop young artists' minds through choice. This type of program places the student at the center of decision making. A TAB learning environment is highly motivating for students because they are not mimicking famous artist but rather creating their own original works of art (W.O.W.). Students get the opportunity to explore materials, set up their own workspace, learn art techniques, engage in meaningful work and be able to discuss and reflect upon their own artwork as well as others.

Life Outside of the Eagle's Nest

Hello I am Amy Doyle, the art specialist here at Ashley Falls School. I am so fortunate to be working at a dream school and doing what I love to do- creating art and teaching kids. I have been in the district since 1992! I actually was a student ay Del Mar Heights growing up. My husband also went to The Heights when he was a kid. We have three creative teenage boys. Currently we own a cockatiel, a tortoise, a freshwater shrimp tank, goldfish, and two dogs.
