Educational Philosophy

I believe students learn best when they are actively engaged in meaningful, authentic learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. My goal is to create opportunities where students take ownership of their learning by asking questions, exploring real-world challenges, collaborating with others, and reflecting on their growth.

As an Innovation Technologist, I partner with classroom teachers to design cross-curricular learning experiences that make learning relevant and engaging. Together, we create opportunities for students to use the design thinking process to empathize, imagine, create, test, and refine solutions to authentic problems. I believe that productive struggle, curiosity, and iteration are essential parts of learning and help students develop confidence as learners.

I see technology as a powerful tool for learning—not the focus of learning itself. When used with purpose, technology empowers students to research, create, communicate, collaborate, and share their thinking in ways that deepen understanding and amplify their voice.

My work is guided by the belief that every student has the potential to become a thoughtful learner, creative innovator, effective communicator, and collaborative problem-solver. I intentionally design learning experiences that nurture the qualities reflected in the DMUSD Portrait of a Learner, helping students build the skills, habits, and mindsets they need to thrive in school and beyond.

Above all, I want students to leave each experience feeling empowered to take risks, embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and recognize that their ideas have the power to make a positive impact on the world around them.
