Educational Philosophy & What to Expect in 4th Grade

As an educator I hope to instill a passion for learning. I want them to understand that being uncomfortable is part of the learning process. Through that journey, they will learn to have empathy, respect, and a strong sense of independence. I want my students to be collaborators that understand their strengths and weaknesses as individuals. Through collaboration, they will be successful leaders and listeners for each other.

Fourth grade is an exciting year. It is a year to see students mature into an "upper-grade" student. This year they will learn how to be critical thinkers through reading, writing, and math. In reading, students will acquire a variety of reading strategies through novel studies with read alouds & the district wide language arts program. In math, students will manipulate numbers into the millions by using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They will develop a deeper understanding of fractions. In Social Studies, students will learn about California History. In Science, students will learn about the Birth of Rocks, Waves of Sound & Energy. It is a jam packed year with many fun activities. I can't wait to embark on this new learning journey with all of you!

Life Outside of the Eagle's Nest

Outside of the classroom I am very busy. My 2 daughters, Lily (14) and Maya (10), spend a lot of time playing basketball. My husband, Oliver and I, enjoy watching them compete in tournaments. In my downtime, I enjoy sewing and being crafty. I make tote bags, fanny packs, masks, and anything else I find on Pinterest. Being healthy is important to me. I make an effort to run outside and breathe in fresh air, from time to time.
