What to Expect in Sixth Grade

Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.

William Butler Yeats

Every classroom has its own unique culture and community, and my role as the teacher is to empower and assist each child in developing their own learning style and reaching their full potential. I believe that each student should have a voice in both their learning journey, as well as in our classroom community. I will support and encourage my students to express themselves and accept themselves for who they are, as well as embrace the differences of others. My goal is for each child to feel safe, to feel heard, and to feel empowered to discover how they can best impact the world around them.

We hope to make this year a successful one as our sixth graders begin to prepare for middle school. We want to empower students to become reflective learners and thinkers who utilize problem solving skills in academic and social situations.

Life Outside the Hangar

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending my time outdoors. I love hiking, running, camping, yoga, going to the beach or bay, and going on walks. Spending time with my friends and family is very important to me, and I love going out to restaurants and concerts as well. Traveling is another one of my favorite hobbies, and I am always looking for my next adventure! If I'm spending time at home, you can find me relaxing with a good book or listening to records. I moved to California from the East Coast, and I grew up in the Philadelphia area - Go Birds! I am thrilled to continue my West Coast adventure in my home away from home at Pacific Sky!
