Del Mar Hills Academy
Educational Background and Professional Experience:
My education started right here in Del Mar. I attended Del Mar Heights, Earl Warren, and Torrey Pines (fun fact: my mother also attended all these schools). I went to the University of California Santa Barbara and received a Bachelor of Art's degree in Political Science and Spanish. Olé Gauchos! Soon after, I moved back to San Diego to complete a Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of San Diego along with my teaching credential. I also hold a Dual Language Certificate from San Diego State University.
This will be my 13th year teaching and my 7th year at Del Mar Hills. I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade in the Spanish Language Immersion Program while at the Hills, as well as 6th grade. I taught 4th grade for 6 years in a Dual Language Immersion program, just up the coast, in Encinitas. Now I am very excited to be returning to Kindergarten and to share a class with Mrs. Mullins!

I believe that my role as a teacher is to facilitate learning experiences that foster a desire to question, investigate, and seek out knowledge. In that endeavor, I strive for students to have fun every day and to create a classroom environment that fosters a love of learning. As a class, we will establish a culture of thinking and a place where we can take risks. I want your child to be excited to come to school every day.
In Kindergarten, we will learn so many new things. We will learn letter names and sounds, as well as how to write them. We will begin to blend sounds and start our journey as readers and writers. This will allow us to become authors and write about our lives, our opinions, and information about the world around us. We will be mathematicians, counting to 100 and beyond, solving word problems, and learning how to put numbers together and break them apart. As scientists, we will learn about motion, things that are alive, and the weather. We will learn more about ourselves and how to make friends by being kind and respectful. We will practice having a learners mindset, think critically about the world around us, and become adaptable problem solvers.
Expect to love learning and have fun while doing it!
My time outside of school is spent with my husband and our 2 year old daughter, Gracie. Gracie and I garden and attend many mommy and me activities to fill our days together. As a family we love playing outside, going to Padres games, swimming, and seeing our extended families.
