Del Mar Hills Academy
Educational Background and Professional Experience:
My education started right here in Del Mar. I attended Del Mar Heights, Earl Warren, and Torrey Pines (fun fact: my mother also attended all these schools). I went to the University of California Santa Barbara and received a Bachelor of Art's degree in Political Science and Spanish. Olé Gauchos! Soon after, I moved back to San Diego to complete a Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of San Diego along with my teaching credential. I also hold a Dual Language Certificate from San Diego State University.
This will be my 12th year teaching and my 6th year at Del Mar Hills. I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade while at the Hills. I taught 4th grade for 6 years in a Dual Language Immersion program, just up the coast, in Encinitas. Now I am very excited to be a 6th grade teacher and share a class with Mrs. Duncan!

"Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire." - W.B. Yeats
I believe that my role as a teacher is to facilitate learning experiences that foster a desire to question, investigate, and seek out knowledge. In that endeavor, I strive for students to have fun every day and to create a classroom environment that fosters a love of learning. As a class, we will establish a culture of thinking and a place where we can take risks. I want your child to be excited to come to school every day.
My time outside of school is spent with my family, my husband and our 1 year old daughter, Gracie. We love spending time with our 2 dogs, reading, and having endless dance parties to nursery rhymes.
