Educational Background and Personal Experience
Hello Pilots and Hawks! My name is Daniel Kodama. I am excited to be back for a third year as STEAM+ Science Specialist at Pacific Sky and Torrey Hills. I studied sustainability at San Diego State University and worked for over five years at an outdoor education nonprofit. I was able to take students on multi-day educational programs to various National Parks and other scenic areas. I obtained my teaching credential at CSU Channel Islands. My teaching experience prior to Pacific Sky was in 8th grade physical science classes.

My goal is to have students solve problems and investigate their interests through hands-on experiences and collaboration. Students will be participating in a variety of activities to help them develop science-related skills and knowledge aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. I hope students will view themselves as curious and enthusiastic scientists, both in and out of the lab.

When I am not in teaching, I spend most of my time outdoors. I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, camping, and skiing. Feel free to ask me more about any of those topics if you're interested! I also love reading, podcasts, and music. Please give me any of your recommendations!
