I'm beyond excited to be working with all of you throughout the 2020-2021 school year! This is my 19th year teaching in Del Mar Union School District and the best part will be the moment I see your smiling faces pop up in the Zoom window. Education is a lifelong passion for me and I can't wait for all of the learning and exploring we will do together. I'm originally from Michigan and earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. After spending a year abroad, I returned home to earn my master's degree from Indiana University with a focus in Gifted Education. Several years later, I took a quick trip to San Diego and fell in love with the city! All these years later, I still wake up and feel so lucky to be living here!

In 4th grade I fell in love with a quote. I wrote it out in my neatest cursive, framed it and hung it on my wall. To this day, this quote embodies my philosophy of education. "Treat a child as though he/she is the person he/she is capable of becoming." My classroom is a space of collaborative learning where students can feel safe to explore, create, struggle, express and grow as individuals. My hope is that every student leaves my classroom inspired to become a life-long learner, appreciative and respectful of the world around us, and ready to think critically when tackling challenges in the world.
Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my family traveling, hiking, playing boardgames, dancing and convincing my teen/tween boys to dress in matching pajamas so their mom can capture the perfect family photo!
