As a Music Educator, my mission to prepare the students for a musical life outside of my classroom. In a time where we have the whole world at our fingertips, it is important that students learn how to use digital resources or listen to new music they would have never heard outside of their town. Music brings people together, it is a language we all can speak despite our ability-levels. I hope to share this wonderful world with all my students. I don't believe everyone is meant to be the next Mozart, Ella Fitzgerald or Taylor Swift, but I believe every single person has the power to express themselves, and experience music in a meaningful way by themselves, with others, and even years beyond our classroom.
Through a comprehensive and sequential study of visual art, music, dance, and theater from K-6th grade, all students will have the opportunity to develop into innovative thinkers and creative problem solvers who are capable of expressing themselves, understanding others, and contributing to their community’s culture and economy for years to come.
I will provide Del Mar Heights and Del Mar Hills Elementary Schools with extensive and integrated instruction in the arts. Students in this program will: learn and grow in multiple art forms, develop cultural awareness and understanding, make connections between arts learning and other subject areas, and be exposed to arts opportunities and environments, both in and out of the Del Mar community.
I am committed to helping students realize their strengths and passions within the arts. Music instruction is focused on the development of the whole child academically, emotionally, and socially through sequential and age-appropriate instruction. Students of all abilities are provided with engaging and authentic experiences through the support of major music education methodologies and current research.
Active participation in an arts program is a critical component of every child’s education. Arts programs enrich students’ lives and provide a vehicle for them to communicate and express human emotions and ideas. In addition, the study of the arts prepares students to be successful in a twenty-first-century world that demands innovative thinking and creativity in an increasingly competitive global society.
Hello Surfrider and Dolphin Families,
I am so excited to be creating music with Hills for year three and Heights for year one!
In case you don't know me, here is a little about me. This is the start of my third year in San Diego. Previously, I lived in Rochester, NY; Ithaca, NY (yes, it's Gorgeous); and my happy place - Chicago, IL. Since I am from Rochester, I am a big Buffalo Bills fan! WOOOO! GO BUFFALO BILLS Super Bowl 2026, here we come!
My weekend routine consists of checking out new cool coffee shops and brunch places, so if you have any suggestions, send them my way. I also love going to concerts, listening to new music, and the beach (even though the water is freeeeeezzziiinnngggg)!
To all our Active Duty and Veterans, I appreciate all the sacrifices that you make for our freedom. Especially if your students are Active Duty kids, I would love to be a support system for them at school. My husband, sister, and both of my brothers-in-laws are on Active Duty.
Del Mar is one of the warmest communities I have worked in. I am truly lucky to call the DMUSD my home, surrounded by some of the greatest kids I have ever taught. Thank you for embracing me and supporting STEAM+ and our Musical. I can't wait for this year.
