Mrs. Allard, 5th Grade Teacher
Welcome to the fabulous fifth grade! We will have a remarkable year as we soar to new heights at Pacific Sky.
I grew up in Champaign, Illinois, and began playing the flute through my elementary school's 5th grade music program. That early experience sparked a lifelong passion for music, which has shaped both my personal and professional journey.
I earned a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Illinois and a degree in Music Education from the University of Minnesota. My teaching career began in Atlanta, Georgia, where I served as a middle school band director. After relocating to California in 2004, I taught in Carlsbad before joining the Del Mar Union School District in 2007. Since then, I have had the privilege of teaching music, integration, and grades 3–5.
I was honored to be named the 2019–2020 Teacher of the Year at Del Mar Hills Academy and for the Del Mar Union School District, as well as a 2020 San Diego County Teacher of the Year. In 2023, I earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the High Tech High Graduate School of Education.

I am committed to providing each student with meaningful learning experiences that both inspire and challenge. My goal is to support students in becoming confident, independent thinkers who take ownership of their learning. As we build a strong and inclusive classroom community, students will develop the academic and social-emotional skills needed to thrive in fifth grade and beyond.
In fifth grade, we explore the foundations of the United States—examining how our country was formed, how it functions, and the challenges we continue to face today. Through an integrated approach that connects Social Studies, Science, Math, and Language Arts, students will engage in critical thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving as they explore important questions about their world and their role within it.
I live in Escondido with my husband, two teenage daughters, and Bernedoodle Benny. I love reading, singing, and working on puzzles. Currently, I am learning to knit, trying to learn French, and to play the guitar. I am excited and proud to serve students and families in Del Mar and welcome you to a new year of learning!
