Graduation Requirements

Graduation Requirements: 

Students at Delano High School are required to earn a specific amount of credits to meet our graduation requirements. With our schedule redesign, each grad year has a different amount of final credits required (see below). Classes of 2027 and beyond will all have the same amount of credits required (per the schedule redesign). Credits are accumulated in grades 9-12.

Credits Defined: (click to expand)

Business Credits:  Business Technology and Communication I and II, Intro to Computer Science, Computer Science and Software Engineering, Personal Finance, Web Page Design, Accounting I and II, Sports and Entertainment Marketing

Technology Credits: Intro to AutoDesk Inventor, Intro to AutoCAD Drafting, Advanced Drafting, Intro to Engineering and Design, Engineering Design and Development, Principles of Engineering, Digital Electronics, Digital Photography, Intro to Woodworking, Basic Furniture Construction, Intro to Metals, Welding and Metals

Family and Consumer Science (FACS): Food Family and Friends, Child Development, Clothing and Personal Fashion, Housing and Interior Design, Sewing Experiences, Cooking 101, Relationships, Survival Skills

Fine Arts Credits: Intro to Art, Drawing & Painting, Ceramics & Sculpture, Digital Photography, Graphic Design, All Band/Choir Classes

Phy Ed/Health Credits: Physical Education/Health 9, Physical Education Electives, and High School Health

Note: While it is not a Delano High School graduation requirement, colleges and universities require graduates to have two years, or 4 credits, of a world language. Delano High School offers Spanish and German courses. 

Diploma System: 

Delano High School awards differentiated diplomas: 

To receive a High Honors diploma, you must have a GPA of 3.67 and complete at least 24 credits from a specified group of classes. A minimum grade of a C is required in each course. For the High Honors Criteria Checklist, click here.

To receive a Distinction diploma, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50 and meet all standard graduation requirements. 

To receive a Standard diploma, students must meet all state and local graduation requirements.
