Delanco's Summer Reading

Incoming Grades 1-2

Students who will be entering 1st or 2nd grade in the fall will be bringing home a summer reading passport and summer reading book suggestions. Research shows that reading during the summer months helps improve children's reading performance. The reading passport consists of some fun reading activities that you can do together this summer. Please make sure to read with your child and send back the completed reading passport at the start of the following school year. Students who return the completed passport will earn a special reward.

  • “What” challenged encourage your child to read a variety of reading materials.
  • “When” challenges encourage your child to read at various times.
  • “Where” challenges encourage your child to read in different places.
  • “Why” challenges encourage your child to read for different reasons.
  • “How” challenges encourage your child to read in different ways.

Students who return the completed passport will earn a special reward.
