Skipping Protocol
Purpose
At McNair High School, we want every student to succeed. Our skipping protocol is designed to:
Improve student attendance, climate, and culture
Create a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment
What This Means for Parents and Students
If a student is found skipping class or out of class without permission, they will be sent to our Hall Sweep Room (Room 301). The incident will be recorded, parents will be contacted, and consequences will increase if the behavior continues.
What Happens During a Hall Sweep
Student Check-In – The student’s name and class period are recorded. Staff will ask why the student was not in class and talk about how to avoid this in the future.
Documentation & Pass – The violation is officially logged, and the student receives a pass to return to class.
Administrator Review – If needed, an administrator will assign consequences according to the chart above.
Parent Communication – The incident is entered into our system, and parents may be contacted depending on the number of incidents.
How Parents Can Help
Talk with your student about the importance of being in class and on time.
Review the consequences together so they understand the impact of skipping.
Contact the school if you have questions or concerns about your child’s attendance.
