SEPTEMBER IS HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
Happy September, everyone! We have a lot of fun activities planned for you in the library this month. View below to see what's in store!!!
September Activities
Come to the library to complete one or all of these.
Log the minutes you read during D.E.A.R. Time and class time in the Beanstack app (You can find it in Clever). Click on the choice board under activities (save it) and be the first to complete 10 activities.
We will be making Guatemalan Worry Dolls to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. According to legend, people tell their worries to the dolls, then place them under their pillow at night. The belief is that the doll takes on these concerns, allowing the person to wake up refreshed with a peaceful mind. Click the image below to view a video on how to make your own. Won't open on your Chromebook? Come to the library and we will play the video for you. You can also come to the library and play Loteria, which is the Mexican version of bingo.
The library will host monthly community service projects to demonstrate the school's commitment to caring. September's project will be to create bookmarks encouraging elementary students to read. They will be delivered to Barack Obama Elementary and McNair Learning Discovery Elementary at the end of the month.
Students did an amazing job creating "squishy" labubus for August's craft activity. Take a look below at some of their masterpieces.
The Book Trailer for September is Loteria. If you like what you see, you can check it out from the library.
