What is Governor's Honors Program?

Governor's Honors ProgramThe Georgia Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be rising juniors and seniors during the program. The program offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom and that is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.

Teacher Nomination Information:

This teacher should know you well and should teach the subject for which you are applying. This should not be an 11th grade teacher. This teacher does not have to work at Chamblee.

For example: You are applying for Piano. You have taken private piano lessons with Mr. Boyd for 6 years. Mr. Boyd can complete your nomination. You must give Ms. Collins Mr. Boyd's phone number or email address in Step 4.

You must complete all steps listed below:

Talk to your parents. Make sure you are all aware that this is a four-week, residential (overnight) program.
Ask a teacher to fill out the Teacher Nomination Form on your behalf.

Optional: fill out and send them your GHP Brag Sheet (note: this can only be opened by students)

Fill out the Student Application Form.
Fill out the GHP Info Form for Ms. Collins. This is mandatory.
Both the Teacher Nomination Form and the Student Application Form are due by September 18th at midnight. **EXTENDED TO 9/28**

FAQ

How much does it cost?

Tuition is free! Transportation costs, dorm supplies, and spending money is not included.

What if I have to leave a few days early or come a few days late?

Attendance for the entirety of the 4-week period is mandatory. Your spot will be forfeited if you are not able to attend for the full length of the program.

Can my parents come see me on the weekends?

No, parents are not allowed on campus for student visits. They may come for the Finale on the last day of the program.

When are interviews and auditions happening?

Initial interviews will take place October 19th-30th. Notification of interview time will be sent out on October 2nd. Semi-finalist interviews will be held on February 27th (or March 13th for music). Finalists will be notified March 19th.
