What is the DMS website?
How do I report an absence?
Email betty_hernandez@roundrockisd.org to report absence. Please have student name, date of absence and reason for absence on email. This email can be used as parent note to excuse the absence. If you have a medical note, please attach to the email. Per RRISD policy, notes must be received within 48 hrs of returning to school.

How do I reach my child's counselor?

When do incoming 6th graders pick their electives and classes?
Counselors typically visit the school in January, and the choice sheets are done in February.
Is there a day before school starts that we can visit the school and look at the classes for my incoming 6th grader?
YES! Ranger Roundup is typically is August. Students get their schedule and can walk their schedule and meet their new teachers!
What is the student to teacher ratio?
The student to teacher ratio is 12.8 students to 1 teacher
What is the average tenure of a teacher at DMS?
The average tenure is 10.3 years.
How many kids are at DMS?
There are 820 kids at DMS; about 273 students per grade level.
What are the math choices?
All students who score Meets Grade Level or higher on 5th grade Math STAAR and who aren’t currently enrolled in Math Accel 1 will be auto enrolled prior to the 1st day of school
All Students have the option to take Math Accel 1
Students who take Math Accel 1 will be on track to take high school Algebra in 8th Grade.
Students who are not being successful in Math Accel I will have the option to move down to on level Math 6
ONLY TAG students will be placed in Math Accel II TAG
What are the science choices?
There is the option to take advanced science classes; resulting in 8th graders taking Physics. Physics will count towards science credits on a student graduation plan and may count towards a STEM endorsement.
What are the PE choices?
Wellness Education
Pre-Athletics
Dance (space is limited and students who don't make it into dance for 6th will be placed in PE)
How many electives does my 6th grader get?
Students will choose 3 electives of their choice & a PE
What electives are available for 6th grade?
