THIS IS LONG, BUT VERY IMPORTANT>>> PLEASE READ.
Here are some reminders for our trip WEDNESDAY. You are responsible for knowing this information!! Please let Mr. Petersen or Mr. Rodrigues-Pavao know if you have any questions! General trip information can be found on this website.
Learn more about the show: we have collected some videos, readings, and link to help you get ready to see the show. Check these out here.
TRIP INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- GRADE CHECKS – we will do more grade checks on Monday afternoon, December 8, and then continuously until the trip – keep those grades up and finish the term strong!! (You’ve got this!!!)
- DEPARTURE – We will meet in the front of the school by the Main Office at 8:25 (so a little before the end of First Period). If you are not going to do work on the bus, you can keep your backpack in your locker – you will have access to it after we return. You will need your school stuff for the first part of the day before we leave.
- MISSED CLASSWORK – please check with your teachers before we leave to see what you will be missing and what you are responsible for. You have over 4 hours of bus time that could be used to do some of that work!
- BEHAVIOR – we’re going to see a show in downtown Chicago, in a 100-year-old theater with almost 2,000 other people – I don’t think we need to say anything more! :-)
- DRESS NICELY – we are seeing a show in downtown Chicago – dress the part. We don’t need “suit and tie,” but look nice. (Nice jeans are okay! Avoid sweatshirts, big holes, t-shirts, big logos, short skirts, etc.) Be mindful of the weather – we may spend some time outside at Millennium Park and then walk a few blocks to the theater, so plan accordingly. Weather currently looks like it will be in around 30 on Wednesday, but could be snowy/rainiy, so we'll play it by ear. If things get tight with time, we will not go to the park and just get dropped off right at the Theater.
- SHOW: The show is 1 hours and 30 minutes long, with NO intermission.
- MONEY/DINNER – you have already paid for lunch, but if you would like to eat at our dinner stop on the way home, you will need some money for food. Food options for dinner can be found here. For most students, $10 should be plenty, but you know your eating habits, so plan accordingly. You are also welcome to bring a bag dinner, just know there is no refrigeration available during the trip. ALSO - If you would like any show souvenirs or over-priced food/drink concession items at the theater, bring some money for those, too.
- LUNCH – Speaking of lunch, lunch is already paid for. It will be at Ginos Pizza - famous for their deep-dish Chicago-style pizza. We will have "family style" lunch - meaning we're going to share "big" pizzas. Everyone should be able to have 2 slices if they want. There will be Cheese, Pepperoni, or Sausage to pick from.
- BUS – We are traveling by coach bus. The bus should have a DVD player – if anyone wants to bring DVDs to watch, please make sure they are PG or “less” – and are clearly marked with your name. (With everyone having phones/devises, we don't -have- to watch DVDs…)
- PHONES – students may bring phones/devices – but at their own risk. We do not have time to look for anything that was left behind. Student should be using any electronics in a responsible way. Students who do not use their phone appropriately will have their device confiscated and face disciplinary action upon return to school. DO NOT SACRIFICE 15-SECONDS OF “FAME” FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF AGONY FOR YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE! Items taken off the bus need to be carried to the park/theater. If they are banned at the theater, they might be confiscated (and not returned). THE BUS IS SECURE AT ALL TIMES. Items left on the bus will be safe.
- THEATER INFORMATION: BROADWAY IN CHICAGO shares the following: “Regular security screening will be in place including bag checks and metal detectors. No outside food or drink will be allowed into the venue.”
- RETURN TO SCHOOL – we should be back to school around 7:00-7:30. We will try to have students call parents/guardians when we get around Janesville/Beloit area to give you a firm ETA back at school. Students WILL have access to the school and their lockers when we return. Any disruptive behavior during the performance, including loud singing, talking, phone use, etc, will be monitored by the theatre. Patrons that exhibit this behavior during the performance will be asked to leave the theatre.
- BRINGING “STUFF” – If you are bringing your backpack, games, etc, they will need to remain on the bus when we are at lunch and the show. THE BUS IS SECURE AT ALL TIMES. Items left on the bus will be safe – including phones. Anything taken off the bus will need to be carried with you.
If you have any other questions, please contact Mr. Petersen or Mr. Rodrigues-Pavao
