Dino Watch

What are the goals of a Dino Watch program?

1) To provide positive role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.

2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

Who are the Dino Watch?

Dino Watch are parents, caregivers, guardians and other caring adults who volunteer for at least one day each year at an official Dino Watch school.

What do Dino Watch do (while they are at school)?

During the day, Dino Watch may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, patrol the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well.

Ready to join Dino Watch

Follow these easy steps:

1.  Fill out the RRISD Volunteer Application Form

All volunteers that will be interacting with students on campus MUST complete the RRISD volunteer application form each school year. This is separate from the Dino Watch registration form below. If you have not completed the application for the current school year, please do so before volunteering at the school.

2.  Register to be a Dino Watch at Deep Wood

After you have filled out the RRISD Volunteer Application above, please register as a Dino Watch in our internal database at DWE. This will help the amazing staff at DWE to plan your Dino Watch visits at our school!

3. Choose your day(s) that you would like to be a Dino Watch

Check the official DWE Dino Watch calendar to sign up for the day(s) and times you would like to volunteer, you will be added as an editor after registering above. On the calendar, scroll down to the month and click on your preferred day, Then type in your name and the times you would like to be there. Example: "John Smith, Full Day". Or, "John Smith, Half Day Morning" (or afternoon). Feel free to type in a specific time as well if needed. Remember, you can volunteer as much or as little as you like. We just encourage you to come at least once.

4. Get your official Dino Watch T-Shirt

We encourage all Dino Watch volunteers to wear an official Dino Watch shirt on the days that they volunteer. This is a way to identify yourself when you are up at the school, and it lets the students and teachers know that a Dino Watch is in the building! Yeah, it's kind of a big deal. To order your official Dino Watch shirt, fill out this form.
