Most of our users are categorized as Learners. A learner is any user who is not a mentor, moderator, tester, or staff member.
Mentors are a voluntary position offered to anyone who completes a DeepLearning.AI specialization.
Mentors are only allowed to monitor the same specialization they have completed and have been assigned.
A mentor's primary role is to answer learner queries related to specific specializations they are assigned.
Mentors cannot assist with courses they have not completed.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, you can find a sign up form in the course material for the final week of each specialization. You can also sign up directly by applying here.
After submitting the form, you will be contacted by a member of the Discourse Community staff.
Discourse community staff also offers mentor positions to our top contributors. You may be asked to volunteer as a mentor if you receive a lot of likes, accepted solutions for your posts, and are generally recognized for your expertise.
Sending direct messages to mentors is discouraged, and mentors are not obligated to respond.
Sending direct messages defeats the purpose of a public forum where learners benefit from similar errors/problems encountered by others.
If needed, the mentor or staff will initiate the direct message, or will ask you explicitly to do the same. (e.g., if you need to check your code to get a better understanding of the topic, the mentor may ask you to do so privately).
Please post your questions as topics under relevant course categories to increase visibility across our pool of mentors, staff, and other learners.
A tester is a volunteer who is asked to review current and upcoming content from DeepLearning.AI. Some responsibilities of a tester include the following:
Review video lectures, lecture notebooks, and programming assignments during the testing phase and provide feedback.
Check that resources are properly cited and links are not broken.
Report issues with the course content to the GitIssue Reporting Tool.
Suggest resources, labs, and reading items that will enhance the content for a course or specialization.
You can apply to become a tester here.
The DeepLearning.AI team selects testers based on applicants' profile details and requirements needed. The team will reach out to qualified applicants.
