Understanding Exclusive vs. Non-Exclusive Works

When we license a track, we are granting a client permission to use the work for a specific purpose. This permission can be either exclusive or non-exclusive, and the choice has significant implications for both the creator and the client.

Non-Exclusive Licenses

A non-exclusive license grants a client the right to use a song for a specific purpose, but the copyright owner (DeepKutz Records) retains the right to license the exact same song to other clients for different projects.

For the Client: This type of license is often more affordable and flexible. It is ideal for independent projects, online content, or smaller productions where budget is a key consideration.

For the Artist: A non-exclusive model allows the artist to generate multiple revenue streams from a single track, as the song can be licensed many times over for different projects.

Exclusive Licenses

An exclusive license grants a client the sole and exclusive right to use a song for a specific purpose for an agreed-upon period. Once the license is granted, DeepKutz Records cannot license that same song to anyone else for that specified use.

For the Client: This provides a strong competitive advantage, as the client's project is the only one in the world that will feature that particular track for a given use. This is common in major advertising campaigns, brand anthems, or high-profile film projects.

For the Artist: An exclusive license typically comes with a higher upfront fee, as the artist is forfeiting future licensing opportunities for that song. It represents a significant commitment and a higher value placement.

How to Submit Your Music

Step 1: Get Your Music Ready Please send us links to your music, not audio files or attachments. We prefer links to a professional press kit (EPK), a private SoundCloud playlist, or a streaming platform like Bandcamp, Apple Music, etc...

Step 2: Tell Us Your Story In your submission email, please include:

• A brief bio about who you are as an artist.

• Your social media handles (Instagram, TikTok, etc.).

• Links to your music on streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.).

• A concise explanation of why you think your music is a good fit for Deep Kutz Records.

Step 3: Send It to Us Please send all of the above to our dedicated email below.

Turnaround times are heavily reliant on client needs, and staff availability. If there is a discrepancy with deadlines, we will prioritize projects on the date of initial submission.

We follow ASCAP guidance on AI music production. DeepKutz Records will not accept any submissions where AI was utilized.
