Students may visit without a pass before or after school, and also during lunch block. When not with a class, students visiting the library during the regular school day are required to follow the following procedures:
From Directed Study -- Please check in with your study teacher and then use eHallPass. Check in with library staff when you arrive.
From a Class -- Use eHallPass and check in with library staff when you arrive.
From FlexBlock:
Sign up for a FlexTime pass (anytime before 10 a.m. the day you want to visit).
Report directly to the library at the start of FlexBlock ancd check in with library staff
Plan on staying in the Library during the entire FlexBlock.
There is no food or drink (except water) allowed in the Library.
Computers and chromebooks are for school-related use only.
All students, including those in Directed Study, are expected to work quietly in the Library.
NOTE for 2025-26: Unfortunately, due to staff reductions, we no longer have a library assistant. This loss will result in some changes to library programming, services, and access. For example, the library will now be closed every day during first lunch.
This is what the DHS Library looked like before the 2022 renovation.
Check out our orange bookshelves, pre-2022 library renovation.
Books may be borrowed for three weeks and may be renewed if not on reserve for another student.
Overdue notices are sent by email. If students have an overdue book they may not be permitted to check out additional library materials. School Administration may be informed if a book is not returned within a reasonable amount of time.
The library does not charge fines for overdue materials. If a book is lost or damaged, the student will be charged a replacement fee.
