About Our Library
Mrs. Garland, Librarian
I have been a Librarian since 2002. I have served on state and national Library Committees and have presented at state, national, and international library conferences. When I am not reading, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outside on a walk or a bike ride, dancing, and traveling.
Library Schedule 2023-2024
OUR CLASS
40 minutes in length
Students participate in a lesson including a book and an activity
Students have an opportunity to choose a library book/books to take home
CHOOSING BOOKS
1st Graders: Choose 1 book (Later in the year they will choose 2)
2nd-5th Graders: Choose up to 5 books
Students are encouraged to choose books of interest. When students select their own books to read and enjoy, they develop confidence in their abilities to make reading choices and build their capacity for choosing books in the future.
HOW IT WORKS
Students return books the following week and choose new ones
If students forget to return books, they will "save" books and may return the next morning to collect them
*Our library is open 8:35-9:10am every day for students to visit with the permission of their teacher.
LOST BOOKS
I send e-mail reminders home twice a month so you know what book/s your child has
Lost books can be replaced by sending in a replacement copy or cash or check made payable to the Town of Dedham (prices are quoted on Amazon). Please reach out for payment alternatives.
