Central Question: How has human trafficking affected the world today & is it gaining frequency?
Why I chose this topic:
I chose to do human trafficking as my topic because it's a growing problem all over the world. I wanted to spread awareness about it, and what the victims go through. Likewise, I've always known that human trafficking was very bad and a form of slavery, but I didn't know enough. Not only that, but I felt like it was my duty to inform myself on the topic and, while I'm at it, inform you.
Abstract:
Human trafficking is when “traffickers” sell/buy other people for forced labor, sexual activities, and more. There are different ways that traffickers can lure their victims:
Threats to friends/family
Force/physically taking them
False promises of well-paying jobs
Romantic relationships
Once they're in the traffickers' “possession” victims are constantly under control. They usually have bad living conditions, little food, and are scared to tell anyone fearing what the trafficker might do. Human trafficking is illegal, but it's an underground operation that need to be stopped. Finding traffickers is difficult because they look like normal everyday people. The national hotline is 1-888-373-7888.
