There are nearly 10,000 wind jobs you can do around the state of Iowa. That number is expected to triple over the next decade. They use lots of equipment when working on wind turbines. That includes fall-arrest systems, harnesses, hard hats, safety glasses, and earplugs. At the top of the windmill they have escape packs and self rescue kits. The typical day can consist of packing the work trucks up, figuring out what you're going to do for the day, what is wrong with the turbine, and seeing if a turbine needs new parts or maintenance. To figure out if something is wrong with a turbine you basically have to use your five senses. Does something sound wrong? Maybe something smells like it’s burning. The hardest part of the job is having to climb hundreds of feet because it can really wear you out.
