There are two main conclusions that researchers have come to regarding ADHD. First, ADHD is not a “clear-cut” disorder that is either possessed completely or not at all but rather spread across a scope of impairment. The second conclusion is that the medications frequently used to treat ADHD are highly controversial. In April 2022, a labor lawsuit was filed by a formal Cerebral executive, because his employer had fired him for expressing a large concern about the company. In his words, the company “egregiously put profits and growth before patient safety” by over prescribing medications for ADHD. According to Joy Hui Lin, a freelance journalist in southern California, “The thing is that meds are not a panacea, you need structure” (Korducki).
