HEXTER 6

Stop-Motion Animation: Students learned about different stop-motion techniques and created object-motion shorts

Animate GIF: Students learned how to draw and animate and create a GIF

Giacometti Sculptures: Students created action sculptures in the style of Alberto Giacometti

Abstract Expressionist Digital Collage: Students learned about Abstract Expressionism and created digital collages that included gesture drawing.

Alphabet Photography: Students were challenged to look at the world around them to find objects that resemble letters. Then they arranged the photos to create a word that describes themselves or their interests.

ZenTangles: Students learned about line and pattern as well as the relaxing and theraputic properties of mark making.

HEXTER 5

Water Color Bubbles: Students learned about water color painting techniques and creating the illusion of form through painting whimsical bubbles.

Zines: Students created a 6 page independent magazine that highlighted things that are important to them. Here are some of those pages.

Lost & Found Project: Students created found poems and illustrated them with lost photography.

HEXTER 4

Digital Illustration Art: Students created digital illustrations to go along with a selected poem or song lyrics.

Getty Museum Challenge: Students selected a famous work of art and recreated it with items they could find around their house.

Photo Joiners: Students learned about photo cubism and a process called joiners. Then they created a cubist photography collage in that style.

Pixel Portraits: Students learned about pixel art and created a pixelized self portrait by using conditional color formatting in a Google spreadsheet.

Word Cloud Art: Students learned about typography and how fonts can be used to further inhance the viewers experience with a word. Then they selected a variety of words that describe themselves with a corresponding font and organized them into a word cloud shape.

Atmospheric Landscape : Students learned about monochromatic color schemes and created an atmospheric landscape image that gives the illusion of depth.

HEXTER 3

Point of View (POV) Photography: Students learned about taking pictures from different angles and how photographers use POV to create more interesting compositions. They then took a variety of pictures displaying their unique points of view.

Indirect Self Portraits: Students learned about Time Capusle Art and Artistic Collections. They then gathered 5 or more personal items that represent different aspects of themselves and photographed them in a collection.

POP Art : Students learned about the POP art movement and created and modified images in that style. Similar to prolific POP artists, they selected current popular images that were related to celebrities, advertisements or consumer goods.

Abstract Digital Collage: Students learned about digital collage and created a design by manipulating their own photographs and adding a quote related to the Fir Ridge P.A.C.K principles. (Perseverance, Attitude, Commitment and Kindness)

Caption This! Art History Memes: Students explore a variety of historical art pieces and the context in which they were created. Next, they gave the art piece a caption and turned it into a meme.

HEXTER 2

Comic Strip Triptych: Students learn about triptychs and create a comic strip that tells a story in three panels based on one of the following themes -2020, Distance Learning, Aliens and Corona Virus

Value Scale Study: Students create a layered abstract design that has the illusion of depth through the use of shading and value scale

"Name Tags": Students practiced color blending through creating graffiti style lettering of their names or nick-names.

Positive Message Challenge: In honor of world kindness day, students created and put positive messages into their community.

My Life as a Mix-Tape: Students explore fundamentals of composition and design to create an album cover and song list to represent their life.

HEXTER 1

Found Object Color Wheel: Art students explore color theory by creating color wheels with items they can find around the house.

Mood Boards: Students learned about complementary color schemes and dichotomy, then created a Mood Board that reflected both!

Color Scheme Mandalas: Students used what they learned about color and radial design to make beautiful Mandalas.

Color Scheme Photo Scavenger Hunt: For this project students took pictures in their environment that represent three color schemes that we have been learning about: Complementary, Analogous and Monochromatic

Surrealist Selfies: Students learned about surrealism and photo manipulation. Then they modified their selfie to portray one of the following aspects of surrealism: 1) Illogical Juxtaposition 2) Scale Change 3) Natural Law Reversal 4) Dislocation
