7 D-D FFA Members exhibit cattle and hogs at Lake County Fair










8 FFA members exhibit at the Wisconsin State Fair with great results.

Gracie Laue exhibited Dairy Goats, and showed her Nubian Doe to Reserve Grand Champion Bred and Owned Doe! Owen Chelminiak, Jared and Jacob Greindanus exhibited Holstein Heifers and and cow and stood in the top half of very large classes at state fair. Eric Gonzalez exhibited 2 barrows in the Junior show standing 4th in classes of 12 twice. Maggie Dutton, Jasmin Speth and Jacob Duckworth exhibited beef cattle in the Junior show. Maggie was named Reserve Grand Champion Maintainer heifer. Jasmin Speth showed the Grand Champion Maintainer heifer. Her steer was 5th overall live in performance and stood third in the Market Steer Show. Jacob Duckworth exhibited the Champion Scanned Carcass Performance steer and the placed 7th Overall. His steer also stood third in class in the Market steer show. His Chianina Heifer was named Senior calf Champion in the low percentage AOB Division. Jasmin and Jacob both returned to State Fair for the Open Beef show with the heifers. Jasmin's heifer was named Grand Champion AOB Heifer and Jacob's Heifer was named Reserve Champion AOB Senior Calf Division.













2019 Walworth County Fair. Our FFA members turned in a great County Fair. Results Eric Gonzalez Grand Champion Barrow with his Champion Crossbred barrow and Champion 17 and up Showmanship. Maggie Dutton's Champion Maine Anjou Heifer was named Supreme Heifer in the Junior Beef show and Reserve Supreme Heifer in the Open Show. Jasmin Speth's Maine Anjou Heifer was Reserve Champion Maine Anjou and third overall heifer in the Junior Show. That same heifer was named Supreme Champion Heifer in the Open Beef Show. Jasmin's Simmental Steer was named Champion Simmental and was awarded 5th steer overall. Jacob Duckworth had the Reserve Champion Senior Division AOB Heifer and Reserve Champion Lightweight Crossbred Steer. Kaitlyn Riviere-Dembny exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Beef Carcass steer. Jacob Greidanus won the Dairy Showmanship 16 and up and exhibited the Supreme Champion Junior Dairy Heifer. Owen Chelminiak was named the Champion Dairy Showmanship 12-15 years of age. He also showed the Reserve Champion Junior Holstein heifer. Paige Johnson won the 15 to 16 year old Sheep Showmanship, Lindsay Pohl won the 13 to 14 year old Sheep Showmanship. Gracie Laue showed the Reserve Champion Sr. Nubian Doe. Wesley Laue exhibited the Continental Male Chicken Division Reserve Champion as well as the Male Duck Light Division Reserve Champion. Logan Hermann exhibited the Grand Champion Dahlia Bloom. Bobbie Neal had the Champion Rate of Gain Crossbred Steer, Grand Champion Mini Lop, Grand Champion Flemish Giant, Grand Champion Pet Rabbit in Costume, Reserve Champion Nigerian Goat, Reserve Champion Non-Rabbit Project, Reserve Champion Straight Line Rabbit Hopping.





This year, Section 10 Leadership workshop was hosted at Watertown High School FFA. We had 6 members attend, Kaitlyn Kraayeveld, Gwen Acheson, Gracie Laue, Alyssa Dembny, Olivia Klade, and Faith Allen. We were able to learn more about our officer positions, meet new people, and plan ways to reach our goals.


Jasmin Speth, Maggie Dutton, and Jacob Duckworth exhibited heifers at the 2019 World Dairy Expo in both the open show and junior shows. In the Open Show on Saturday, Maggie showed the Junior Division Champion Mainetainer and placed second in her May yearling Mainetainer class. Jasmin was second in class with her April yearling class, going Reserve Division champion. Jacob won his class and was selected Champion Senior Division Chianina Influence heifer. In the Junior show on Sunday Maggie again showed the Junior Heifer to a Junior Division Champion Maintainer and The Yearling Maintainer was named Reserve Grand Champion Heifer. Jasmin's Mainetainer heifer was named Grand Champion Mainetainer heifer for the fifth time this year. Jacob's heifer repeated as the Senior Division Champion Chi Influence heifer. Jacob's heifer completed the summer show season undefeated in class. Maggie's heifer calf is 4 for 4 in Junior calf championships in her young show career.

On Monday, Sept 30, 5 members went to Badger HS to compete in FFA Kickball. Sam Hetzel, Marcus Smith, Tom Sorg, Lindsey Pohl and Wesley Laue kicked it, caught it, and ate root beer floats.

This year our FFA chapter was fortunate enough to receive donations of pumpkins from McClellan’s Farm and The Apple Barn. The kids carved a total of 50 pumpkins on Monday Oct. 28th and donated them to a few nursing homes in our area. We would like to thank all the members that carved as well as McClellan’s Farms and the Apple Barn for the donations.

This year the Delavan-Darien FFA chapter was lucky enough to take 12 members to Indianapolis for the 93rd National FFA Convention from Oct. 30th- Nov. 2nd. On the way down the kids got to stop at Fair Oaks Farms and got the opportunity to learn about the swine production process; viewing live births as well as the feeding and disease prevention process. On Thursday, our kids went to leadership workshops; learning how to better time management and how to increase our member participation. In addition to the workshops, we attended the Opening Sessions in Lucas Oil Stadium. We also got to experience Brett Young in concert. Friday morning, our chapter split up and each went to 2 more leadership workshops, then proceeded to the proficiency session. Friday night our chapter got to check out the CINCH World’s Toughest Rodeo.

We would like to put out a special thank you from all of our chapter, to our awesome Alumni and Ag teacher for allowing us to experience this incredible learning and growth opportunity.

On Thursday, Nov 14, 9 members of our FFA had the chance to take part in a first Christmas tree of the year ceremony with the Alice In Dairyland and area 4th graders.


On February 6th 2020, 25 students enrolled in Gateway Technical College horticulture classes were able to go to the GTC horticulture campus tour and career fair on the Kenosha Gateway campus. Students were able to get a tour of the campus and explore the campus. Students were also able to see the greenhouses on campus, talk to students, and get to witness tree trimming through the arboriculture classes. There was also a career fair for students to walk around and talk to employers of horticulture businesses in the area and explore the employment opportunities in the industry. We are thankful to have the opportunity to go on this trip.

We hosted the District FFA Speaking Contest on Tuesday, Feb 11th. 90+ FFA members from 9 chapters took part in 7 different Leadership Development contests. Competing for Delavan-Darien FFA were Fred Krablean and Kaitlyn Kraayeveld in Discussion, Matthew Hoekstra and Parker Krablean in The Creed, and Sam Hetzel in Job Interview. Well done and thanks to everyone that volunteered their time to help run this speaking contest!
