DDSB Skills Competition Scope: Technology Design 4-6:
This contest will follow the Provincial Scope closely including scoring rubrics. Groups will learn of the specific challenge at the start of the contest, but the challenge will involve pulleys and gears. The in class-challenge was an example given by Skills ON for this challenge.

during orientation on the day of the competition.
Note: Groups will be making a Design Brief during the challenge and will be making a 2 minute presentation to judges about their device and how it works. Please see Rubric for details!
No student can participate in this Challenge without proper safety clothing and equipment. This includes safety eye-wear and gloves, closed toe shoes and no dangling jewelry. Long hair should be tied back and not impede vision.

Hand tools are an option and included in the planning info, but we understand not all students have seen these. It would be an advantage to have experience with them as it creates a wider outcome for project solutions.
Safety is key for tool usage, please ensure your team is aware of all safety considerations and has the appropriate equipment
This challenge is often exciting as the problem is linked to the real world and made available only at the onset of the contest, problem solving skills are critical as well as teamwork and communication
