Taking place during the first week of November in Ontario, Treaties Recognition Week was first introduced by the provincial government in 2016 to honor the importance of treaties and to help Ontarians learn more about treaty rights and treaty relationships and their relevance today.
The 83rd Heritage Minute video at right shows the making of Treaty 9 from the perspective of historical witness George Spence, an 18-year-old Cree hunter from Albany, James Bay.
