HERITAGE MONTH
Did you know Panzanella, also known as panomelle is a salad that is often eaten during the summertime due to it’s savoury and refreshing taste. The commonly enjoyed salad is an Italian meal, but is also very popular in other parts of Europe. The salad is made up of soaked stale bread, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, sometimes basil and is dressed with olive oil and vinegar.

Today’s food fact is-Did you know Moussaka, a Greek meal in which the most popular version was actually made more recently in the year 1920 by Nickolaos Tselementes. This week’s heritage facts will focus on foods. Goi cuon are a Vietnamese dish and are essentially translucent spring rolls consisting of pork, prawn, vegetables and many other ingredients all wrapped up in Vietnamese banh trang to form delicious rolls. In recognition of Remembrance day and our Canadian heritage, today’s fact of the day is that more than 650,000 men and women from Canada and Newfoundland served during the First World War. More than 66,000 gave their lives and over 172,000 were wounded. Today we remember all the people who fought for the freedom we have here today.

Hey Gators! Do you know what day it is? Today is the first day of Jumpstart Dodgeball! Brought to you by Ms. Hardy’s Grade 11 SHSM class, Dodgeball will run the next two (2) weeks at lunch. Today’s games are Brooklin Bears vs Los Ballers Supreme on court 1 and Free Fishes vs Dodgeables playing on court 2. You can also find the schedule of games everyday on the TV outside of the big Gym doors. Congratulations to the Cross Country team who competed at the LOSSA Cross Country Festival this past Saturday. It was a wet and muddy day to say the least. Some amazing performances to note: The Junior Girls team places 2nd overall with 82 points. The team was made up of Livi Martin, Tayissa Gallant, Hope Storey, Olivia Johnson, and Justine Papakirykos. A special shout out to Livi who placed 3rd overall! Well done to everyone who competed!
