In keeping with the DDSB’s focus on providing equitable and inclusive opportunities for all students, we are proud to present, The Cypher: Black Male Empowerment Webinar Series, returning for its 6th year! Starting February 2022, students will have an opportunity to join a conversation with Black Male Educators and Leaders in the community. The purpose of The Cypher will continue to support leadership, resiliency, and well-being for black male students. However, the realities of black male students are now more visible, and it’s important that we are responsive in an inclusive environment that will ultimately propel Black students towards excellence and challenge the preconceived narratives. Once again, ALL intermediate staff and students will be given the opportunity to learn about the importance of representation in the Black community, witness the transparency and perseverance of speakers despite systemic racism, unveil challenges experienced in the education system, demonstrate the impact of high expectations, and ultimately engage in teachable moments that will bring awareness to systemic Anti-Black Racism in Webinar 2. Join us as we unpack racial injustices and strive to strengthen our own levels of critical consciousness.
