DC West is an inclusive educational environment that prides itself on a full spectrum of services for students with varying disabilities and behavioral/social/emotional needs. Communication amongst a student’s team members (Parents, Special Education Teachers, Core Teachers, Service Providers, and Para Professional) is invaluable to us.
A Bit About Me
Hey There,
I am happy to introduce myself as a Special Education Teacher for DC West Middle School. My name is Lisa Masters and my husband and I have lived in the area for over 20 years. We have 4 daughters and 6 grandchildren. We also share our home with three tabby cats named Neary , Sophie, and Rima. I have been teaching for 30 years. Upon my graduation from Louisiana State University, I began my world tour of teaching by way of Arkansas, most of the Gulf Coast, and Germany and can safely say that the kids at DC West are the best bunch I have come across. I have a Masters in Special Education and Sensory Disabilities. I look forward to getting to know your student. I have no doubt this year will be an eventful and challenging one.
Collaboration is the Key
As I get to know your student, I welcome any and all information, questions, or concerns. Please contact me via e-mail at any time! I keep my phone on me at all times during the school year and will respond quickly. I use the free REMIND app for daily communication. Your messages arrive in the form of a text straight to my phone and I will respond immediately.
Follow this link to get started and say hello: https://www.remind.com/join/fabfalcon
(The smart phone app is great, however you can choose text or email too)
As the school year gets underway, you will be receiving messages from me to better include you in your child's learning:
Monday Morning Meeting - This message will outline our curricular goals for the week.
Wednesday "You Can" - This message will provide an easy activity you can enjoy with your student to reinforce the learning in the classroom.
Friday Check In/Update - You can let me know how the activity went or provide me with information to better meet the needs of your child.
"You Can" - Tell me about your child’s interests, strengths, weaknesses, and concerns using the form below. "You Can" leave a note for them as well, and I will read it on the first day of school!
