Reading: We are beginning a new novel study. As we read, students will practice writing clear and concise summaries for each chapter to strengthen their comprehension skills. We will also focus on expanding our vocabulary by identifying and learning new words from the text. In addition, students will explore characterization, examining how characters’ actions, thoughts, and dialogue reveal their personalities and roles in the story.
Writing: We are finishing our persuasive writing topics and getting better at writing organized paragraphs. We will continue to work on strengthening our word choice.
Science: Seeds are beginning to grow, and carrots have been planted for our decomposition experiment. This chapter is helping us learn how matter moves through an ecosystem.
Social Studies: We are learning about the Revolutionary War, the Constitution, and American government.
