EC STEAM Network

EC STEAM Network - Our Story

Founded in 2019, the Early Childhood STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) Network aims to bring together early childhood educators interested in supporting STEAM in settings for children from birth to six years. This informal network provides opportunities for educators to share practice with peers, hear from experts and gain first-hand experience in using tools, devices and materials to support STEAM in early childhood.

Network Aim

Our aim is to demonstrate the everyday nature of STEAM in early childhood and share how play is the best way to support children's understanding of fundamental  science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts.

 The network provides a space for educators to explore, share and enhance their practice in relation to early childhood STEAM.  We also focus on re-framing thinking to understand how normal ECEC activities such as playing with water, blocks and preparing food are excellent ways of supporting STEAM.
