We talk about division as the opposite of multiplication when it is just the fact. When we are dividing with pictures or counters we talk about making groups.
This unit begins fact families, we always say you need to know your multiplication facts, not your division facts because they just need to know which numbers make a fact family and how the numbers need to be interpreted.
