Here at Dickson Middle School we take the Performing Arts seriously. We believe that all students should have access to an arts education and the benefits it offers.

The performing arts encourages students to explore their emotions, expand their imagination and helps them develop their own, unique voice. Each discipline of music, dance and drama engage the brain, body and emotions in different ways to encourage their confidence and find joy in self-expression.

You yourself have probably benefited from the performing arts throughout your lifetime. Think back, if you can, to a time in your early life when you went forth into every venture with reckless abandon. Whether it was painting and drawing, building sandcastles, singing at the top of your lungs, or even deconstructing a snow fort, the activity brought you value.

That is what art does.

It teaches us who we are. It also shows us where we have been. Every culture since the beginning of time has left artifacts that give us insight into how civilizations have lived and worked.

Here at DMS we are so excited to give our students multiple opportunities to participate in performing arts on and off the stage. We hope that you will take the chance to watch a concert or performance and check out the amazing things these students are doing.
