Images you find online are not always free to use. Even if you find them through a Google search and can copy them, they may still be owned by someone else. Owning an image usually means owning the copyrights to that image. For your project, you want to use images that are copyright free, which means no one owns the creative rights to them and you can use them without worrying that you are breaking any laws.
