Summer Adventures In Learning

Welcome to SAIL, a resource provided by the Douglas County School System so that our students will SAIL into the next school year!

Reverse the Summer Slide

Research shows that, over the summer, many students lose some of what they learned in the previous grade level.

The DCSS SAIL website is a resource intended to help families reverse summer learning loss. DCSS educators have carefully selected the key knowledge and skills for each subject in each grade level and developed fun activities to do at home!

  • The content will represent what the student was taught in the previous grade. (For example, Rising 3rd grade content contains what students were taught in 2nd grade.)

  • Grades K-8 will find lists of skills, knowledge, and activities to help them review some of the key concepts.

  • To preview for the next grade, just select a grade level higher!

  • The high school menu includes each school's readings for IB, Honors and AP classes.

What now??

  • Consider signing up for the public library's summer reading program; see the Summer Reading Program page on this website for more information.

  • Keep up with completed activities by listing them on a calendar or a log like THIS ONE.

  • Save the list of activities to share with your teacher in the fall.

Use the menu to the left to find the appropriate grade level, and start SAILing!
