Tanish Springer

Welcome back, Knights!

6/24/2024

Dear Knight Family,

On behalf of our faculty and staff, I would like to welcome new and returning students, teachers, and families to Sweetwater Elementary. It is with immense excitement that I serve you as the principal and I am honored to work with this dedicated community of hard-working faculty, enthusiastic learners, and supportive parents. In service to you and the community, one of the most significant aspects of my role is to build and cultivate relationships with students, teachers, and families.

At Sweetwater, our vision of building lifelong learners drives our mission to serve our school community with excellence. Our teachers and staff are committed to providing the highest quality of instruction that fosters a culture of continuous achievement. We each play an important part in this mission and we are looking forward to partnering with you.

I wholeheartedly believe that working together as partners in educating our students is vital to our school’s success; and communication, collaboration, and involvement are the keys to that success. Communication and involvement are extremely important at Sweetwater, so please be sure to sign up for Remind, “like" us on our Facebook page, and visit our school website. Current events and opportunities for you to be involved in our school community will be posted on these platforms. Make sure your contact information in Infinite Campus is up to date so that you can receive our school Smore Newsletters.

We hope that you can join us on July 20th, 2024 from 10:00 a.m until 1:00 p.m. for our system kick-off at the Central Office. There will be food, games, prizes, and school supplies. Additionally, we look forward to seeing you July 30th at 4:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m. for Sneak a Peek. This is an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and get important information about school operations, classroom expectation, and transportation. The first day of school is August 1st 2024. School hours are from 7:40 am - 2:25 pm. School doors will open at 7:00 am and school will begin promptly at 7:40 am. Your child’s timely arrival at school is important so that your child does not miss out on instructional lessons and activities. If you arrive after 7:40, you will need to sign your student(s) in. Dismissal begins at 2:10 p.m.. There will be no check outs after 1:30. Please note that we will have early dismissal the first two days of school at 1:45. Buses will depart at 2:00 pm. Buses will be 25 minutes ahead of schedule. Our summer office hours are 8am-3pm if you need assistance or have questions. Our office number is 770-651-4600.

It would be great if you would complete the free and reduced lunch application prior to Sneak-a-Peek to save time and beat the lines. Visit here (tinyurl.com/freelunchsw) to complete it in three easy steps! Find bus info. here >https://www.dcssga.org/o/dcss/page/district-maps
